Describe the equipment without taking it apart
Have the accessible model information and approximate installation date ready. Explain whether all fixtures lost hot water, whether the issue is intermittent and where moisture appears. Do not open energized equipment, adjust a gas control or enter unsafe water based on website guidance.
Compare the confirmed fault and the complete scope
Ask for the diagnostic findings and available repair options. For replacement, request the proposed capacity, installation work, connections, disposal, testing and permit responsibility. Age alone does not identify a failed component or determine the right equipment.
Prepare the actual address and supplier
Read the supplier on your bill and identify who may authorize access or an interruption. Lafayette Utilities System publishes water and wastewater information; use the actual supplier shown on the bill for a suspected public-system concern. Ask the assessor to define private investigation, repair and restoration separately.
Compare repair and replacement evidence in the water-heater decision guide before choosing equipment.
Questions to ask about water-heater assessment & replacement
- What findings support the proposed work and its limits?
- Who will attend, and how can I verify the relevant Louisiana plumbing license?
- What assessment charge, testing and restoration exclusions apply?
Does the quote include everything?
Ask about assessment charges, the proposed remedy, parts, testing and work excluded from the scope. Availability and charges depend on the answering business and actual property. Compare the supplied scopes and exclusions before choosing.
